‘Anthropologie was a natural fit for us because we have a shared belief that home is where life unfolds – they’re a brand that reflects our belief in thoughtful, design-driven living,’ says Maria O'Brien, VP of global design.
Maria's guide to finding the perfect rug
1) For me, the loveliest homes are the ones that reflect the people who live in them, so if you feel less sure of your personal style, simply start with the style you love. It can anchor the room and provide a palette for the rest of the space.
2) If you crave the optimism and exuberance that strong colours and statement pattern can bring, don’t hold yourself back. But while I love maximalist designs, I work with a myriad of colours and patterns every day, and at home I’ll often choose restraint. Gentle colours and layers of soft texture feel calming and restful, especially in the bedroom.
3) Don’t feel pressured to pick a side. The definitions of maximalism and minimalism are evolving. We’ve seen a shift from cold, hard-edged minimalism towards softer, warmer and more playful interiors. Likewise, maximalism can feel optimistic and expressive without feeling overpowering. There’s always room for both!
