Nate Berkus is a well-known tastemaker, and he knows how to throw a party. The interior designer and three-time author recently sat down with House Beautiful to share his top tips for hosting with flair, and his favorite entertaining detail could not be simpler: personalized napkins.

Berkus recently shared shots from the southern leg of his book tour on his Instagram, and right there, on the second slide, sitting on a silver tray surrounded by coupes, was the one decor piece that he says really tied the event together. A textured white napkin with his namesake logo printed across the lower third.

“I really love the details,” Berkus says, “ I was just in Charlotte, North Carolina, and there was a party, and they had paper napkins printed with my name on them. I was like, ‘This is perfect. I have tequila, AND I have a napkin with my name on it.”

The added charm of this hack? It’s as simple as it is accessible—and that might be Berkus’s favorite aspect about it, too.

“I'm constantly trying to present simple ways of making the night feel elegant, but accessible. I like a monogrammed cocktail napkin, which you can buy on Etsy or eBay. I love that kind of elevation, no matter what you're doing at home,” Berkus says.

So whether it’s your full name, first name, or favorite nickname, go ahead and get some napkins printed for your next event.
