As much as I like to shop from small businesses, I spend most of my money on Amazon because, let’s be honest, it sells literally everything. Here’s an extreme example of what I mean: I bought my 13-gallon trash bags and my Staud wedding shoes in the same Amazon order. So, when I am adding to my cookware collection, you better believe I’m buying my pots and pans from Amazon—specifically, from Staub. I have a few pieces from Staub, but my favorite two (and the only pieces of cookware you really need) are the 5.5-quart cocotte and the 12-inch fry pan—both of which are on sale for Prime Day.

Here’s the thing: I cook almost every day, and I’m using either one of these or both at the same time. I also have a smaller saucepan, but I rarely use that one. Would you believe I have an even hotter take than “You only need two pieces of cookware?” Well, I do: I think Staub is better than Le Creuset. It’s not only slightly cheaper, but it’s just better, in my humble opinion. And I can say that from experience because I have a 5.5-quart Le Creuset as well, and it’s not only more expensive, but it shows wear and tear where the Staub doesn’t.

Performance-wise, they function exactly the same. I could never eat the same dish prepared in both a Staub and a Le Creuset and taste a difference, but I happen to think the Staub offers a better cleaning experience because the interior is rough, matte black enamel that makes for very good browning with minimal staining. The Le Creuset, on the other hand, features a smooth, glossy, off-white enamel that does have the benefit of being able to monitor the cooking process, but stains much faster and more easily.

Also, this is very much a me thing, but I just like the way it looks more too. It has a more French bistro look to it. The Le Creuset is hardly dainty, as it weighs a good 10 pounds, but it does have a delicateness about its appearance that I don’t love. The Staub is just cooler looking, which is one of the myriad reasons I love it.
