This year’s show home began with a distinctly Charleston idea: History, hospitality, and modern life can share the same address. Set in Ansonborough, one of the city’s most storied downtown neighborhoods, the project sits within walking distance of the restaurants, shops, and architectural character that make the peninsula so magnetic. For Bennett Hofford Construction, the Charleston builder behind the project, that sense of place shaped the vision from the start. Across side-by-side condominiums, Whole Home 2026 explores not just one way to live beautifully, but two—each personal, flexible, and deeply connected to the area.
UNIT ONE
The Couple’s Retreat
In this condo, dinner happens somewhere else. Charleston has the reservations—hello, Lowland!—the galleries, the nightcaps, and the walk home past gaslit architectural gems with the faint clip-clop of a carriage somewhere nearby. The owners bought here because Charleston is not a one-and-done city for them; it’s the place they return to for long weekends, favorite tables, familiar streets, and a version of city life that feels easy to slip back into. And they love bringing their best friends. The rooms are designed for the parts around the plans: coffee before everyone heads out, drinks before dinner, a guest room that makes visitors feel properly spoiled, and somewhere comfortable to land when no one is quite ready for bed.
UNIT TWO
The Social Set
Here, the party starts—and stays—at home. The ultimate pied-à-terre, this condo has enough main-character energy to make locals and far-flung friends visit on the regular. Full of chef-worthy features, the kitchen boasts old-world influences, underscoring that atmosphere is half the menu. The great room is built for the best part of having people over: catching up on the local lore, the hot spot actually worth the wait, who’s new in town, and which old house everyone is suddenly obsessed with. Upstairs, two spare rooms become after-hours destinations: records in the listening lounge, one more drink in the gallery space. Everyone has a reason to stay too late and then go home happy.
