It's the moment we've all been waiting for: the highly anticipated 2025 Christmas adverts have dropped, including John Lewis, Aldi, Asda, and more.

Over the years, brands and retailers have delivered some unforgettable campaigns. From the Sainsbury's advert showing the unofficial truce between British and German soldiers on Christmas Day in 1914 (which currently has 26 million views on YouTube) to the story of an elderly man's bond with his granddaughter from the German pharmaceuticals company DocMorris, these adverts have become synonymous with the start of the festive season.

While some focus on product placement, others use their platform to tell a heartwarming story, such as around loneliness, the cost of living crisis, charity, community spirit and the joy of giving.

Let's not forget the famous John Lewis ads: from The Bear And The Hare (2013) to Monty the Penguin (2014), the retail giant has delivered some memorable narratives over the past 17 years (the first advert was Shadows in 2007).

The John Lewis Christmas advert 2025 explores thoughtful gifting. Titled 'If you can't find the words, find the gift', it tells the story of a distant son and his dad, who find their way back to one another through the gift of a vinyl record.

Viewers are taken on a journey as the dad stands on a dancefloor, remembering his son as a toddler and baby, before embracing one another in a heartwarming exchange.

'This year's John Lewis Christmas campaign is a celebration of connection, memory, and the unspoken emotions that make the season truly magical,' says Rosie Hanley, director of brand for John Lewis.

'We understand the power of a thoughtful gift, and we hope the Ad will inspire our customers to find the gift that articulates their feelings, allowing the present itself to speak volumes where words may sometimes fall short.'

The Sainsbury's advert features an unexpected guest: The BFG. It shows the friendly giant working closely with a Sainsbury's store worker to help hunt down a greedy monster stealing food. It ends with the BFG being invited into a home for Christmas and making friends.

Aldi Christmas Advert 2025

Aldi has teased its Christmas advert featuring the much-loved return of Kevin the Carrot. Marking Kevin's 10th anniversary and inspired by Love Actually, it's the first of three adverts and sees Kevin pop the question to his beloved Katie.

'This teaser sets the stage for a truly heartwarming Christmas, reminding us all that love is at the heart of the festive season. We can't wait for everyone to join Kevin and Katie on their journey and see what other surprises we have in store,' says Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK.
