This October, Halloween 2025 is shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and more imaginative than ever. Think Halloween is just about ghosts and candy? Think again. This year, it’s all about creativity, glamour, and a touch of drama — from moody Gothic soirées to cosy autumnal corners and even statement Halloween trees. Meet the looks and decor ideas that are redefining spooky season.

The Halloween front door is officially the new must-have statement. ‘The front door has become a seasonal showstopper for many celebrities,’ begins paint and interiors expert Lucy Steele from Valspar Paint, who points to Stacey Solomon's theatrical entrance styled with branches, pumpkins and gold skeletons.

To recreate the look, Lucy suggests layering orange pumpkins, copper accents and natural textures like branches or moss. 'To take it a step further, you can create a bold backdrop for your doorway using an inky black paint on the front door. Painting plant pots in this moody shade will create a gothic statement for the front of the home for spooky season and beyond.'

Lighting is key to setting the scene, says Andrew White, home and garden expert at Harbour Lifestyle: 'When creating a themed doorscape, I always recommend starting by setting the right mood with lighting. To bring the spooky vibes, solar lanterns are the ultimate base. Reminiscent of oil lamps used in Victorian times, outdoor lanterns not only provide an eerily enchanting glow, but also add a chic and luxurious element to your front doorscape.

'Place a collection of alternating sizes around the perimeter of your front door or porch, lighting the way to your offering of delicious treats. Bonus points if you add faux flickering candles, or hazy orange bulbs for a sophisticatedly spooky atmosphere.'

Ornamental pumpkins have been given a stylish, on-trend update for 2025 — from plush velvet to cosy boucle finishes. Perfect as both an autumn decoration and a chic Halloween prop, these textured pumpkins bring a touch of sophistication to seasonal styling.

For maximum impact, group them in clusters of three and place them in the hallway or on the porch to greet guests with a warm, seasonal welcome. Smaller pumpkins look beautiful arranged on a coffee table, sideboard, or mantelpiece, while miniature versions make the perfect finishing touch to an autumnal tablescape.

Pinterest’s 2025 Halloween Report reveals that one of the biggest trends set to steal the spotlight is Gothic Gatherings – a look that’s theatrical, refined, and deliciously eerie.

This darkly glamorous aesthetic transforms parties with candlelight, velvet, and eerie elegance. Searches for ‘gothic tea parties’ are up by 109 per cent and ‘gothic masquerade’ by 65 per cent, as celebrations become more moody and theatrical than ever, according to the visual discovery platform.

‘This darkly glamorous trend brings a sense of moody elegance to the party scene, pairing velvet-and-candlelit vibes with decadent details — think black cocoa cupcakes, inky cocktails, and charcuterie with a romantic, ruined-castle twist,’ says Pinterest.

Cosy autumnal corners

Not every Halloween space has to be eerie — one of this year’s biggest trends embraces a softer, autumn-inspired look that feels warm and welcoming rather than spooky.

Lucy Steele says the move towards creating an ‘autumnal glow and cosy corners’ celebrates comfort and texture, with rustic garlands, orange-toned leaves, neutral shades, soft lighting, and lanterns setting a relaxed, seasonal mood.

This style is all about curated vignettes — think cabinets, mantels, fireplaces, or bookcases styled with fabric pumpkins, foliage, natural accents and mood lighting to bring subtle autumn charm to every corner of the home.

Halloween trees (including the alternative kind)

Halloween isn’t just creeping into our decor — it’s taking over the Christmas tree too, according to sales manager at Christmas Tree World, David Sumner. 'We’re seeing a growing trend for Halloween trees, where shoppers decorate early for spooky season and simply swap out decorations as the seasons change,' he explains.

You can repurpose an artificial Christmas tree or opt for something more spooky — black or white trees are perfect for creating that classic eerie feel or a ghost-inspired display. Think pumpkins, bats, and orange lights for October, before transforming your tree into a festive centrepiece come November.

A more stylish, contemporary take (and our favourite) is the versatile twig tree – adorn with autumnal decorations for a centrepiece that truly shines.
