The best pink sofas to buy and how to style them

As well as some failsafe pink colour schemes for a cohesive look.

Pink sofas are the picture of versatility – they can look elegant and understated in contemporary living rooms, traditional styles with pillowy button backs or striped upholstery can feel a bit vintage, and deep reddish pinks with loose covers would be at home in a rustic country cottage.

There are plenty of brilliant pink sofas on the high street – sunset hues like yellow, peach and pink are slowly replacing the bolder jewel tones that have been popular for so long – and styles run the gamut from compact two-seaters to extra large corner sofas, upholstered in an array of pink velvets, linens and tactile weaves.

Do away with any notions you have of pink sofas being childlike or overly feminine – their impact in a living space can be totally transformed by the surrounding colour scheme and how you choose to style them.

How to style a pink sofa

Pink sofas are easier to style than you may think. Light and mid pinks can be treated like most neutrals and dressed with unfussy light-coloured cushions or throws. If your living space is very warm – maybe you have off-white walls, cream carpets and wooden furniture – then go for neutral furnishings, while cooler schemes with lots of metallics and glass would benefit more from greys.

If you prefer colourful cushions then sage or forest green make a great companion to pink. Plain pastels can look a touch washed out on pink sofas, so if you like very delicate colours, choose those with a good amount of pattern. Dark pinks fare well with rich shades like mustard, mossy green or a mid blue.

What colours go with a pink sofa?

In deciding a colour scheme for your whole room, much of the above applies there too. Light and mid pink sofas can sit in a cool or warm room – so your whites, greys and blacks vs. your creams, taupes and browns. Have a look below at the DFS Darcy sofa and the Cox & Cox Artes sofa for examples of cooler colour schemes, and the Rose & Grey Kew sofa and the Togo sofas for example of warmer colour schemes. Dark pinks have more reddish undertones that will universally suit warmer rooms – the Rowen & Wren sofa below is a great reference.

Here, we look at 13 of the best pink sofas on the high street, and we've included some fabulous vintage examples too.
