Ikea has unveiled the latest installment of its long-running collaboration with British interior designer Ilse Crawford: Halgatt, a collection of dimmable table lamps that look far more expensive than the price tag suggests.
Founder of the London-based agency Studioilse, Ilse is known for her human-centred approach to interiors, creating spaces and objects that prioritise wellbeing, sensory connection and sustainability over purely visual aesthetics.
Those principles underpin Halgatt, which arrives 11 years after the launch of Sinnerlig – the bestselling collection of woven pendant lampshades that remains in production today.
The collection comprises two lamps, each reinterpreting the classic base-and-shade silhouette. The first features a sculptural stoneware base finished in a soft white glaze, paired with a matching shade for a clean, tonal look. At just £25, it's an affordable way to bring designer style into your home.
The second design, priced at £35, pairs a warm-toned cylindrical ceramic base with a natural beige linen shade for a softer, more traditional aesthetic.
Both lamps share the same considered material palette: tactile ceramics with intentionally imperfect finishes, natural linen shades, and brass dimmer switches that allow the light to shift seamlessly from bright lighting to a warm, ambient glow.
'My inspiration for Halgatt comes from how we live our lives. They have a versatility that supports the decor rather than dominating it,' Ilse said of the collection.
'In my view, good interiors are well-lived-in spaces because they reflect and support the people who live there. But without them being lit, the lamps will continue to be equally aesthetically appealing because they are designed so beautifully.'
With just two designs in the collection, Chiara Ripalti, lighting product developer at Ikea, says: 'We wanted to offer two expressions of the same idea, with classic materials and earthy tones. One took a more distinctive shape, balanced with a tone-on-tone palette.
'The other a more traditional cylinder, given depth through its rich, dark glaze. Both unmistakably carry the signature of Ilse, at a price that puts it within reach.'
Halgatt is available online and in Ikea stores now.
