I consider myself to be a pretty whimsical person: I spend my weekends knitting in the park, watercolor every birthday card I give out, and even make my own raspberry jam (it’s so much better homemade, trust). While I’ve already taken a few steps to add more character to my home—like incorporating decorative woven baskets and warm lighting—I recently decided it was time to give my bedding a much-needed whimsical refresh, too.

Living in a studio apartment means my bed is the focal point of my entire living space. Because of that, it’s important that my bedding not only complements the rest of my decor, but also reflects the same level of quality as my other furniture pieces. Most importantly, it has to seamlessly coordinate with my larger furnishings, like my couch and accent chair.

I first came across British homeware brand Piglet in Bed while scrolling on TikTok, and was immediately enticed by the brand’s soft, warm color palettes and classic prints, like gingham and stripes. I was further drawn to its ethos that homes aren’t supposed to be perfect; they’re meant to be personal. Piglet in Bed celebrates character-filled, personality-packed decor decisions, which is something I resonate with in my own space.

I probably spend more time in bed than the average person. I love climbing under the covers a few hours before I actually fall asleep to read or watch a show, and in the mornings, one of my favorite rituals is getting back into bed to drink my matcha in cozy comfort. Uncomfortable bedding, no matter how cute, has no place in my lifestyle. Keep reading for my full review of Piglet in Bed’s viral bedding.

Quick Verdict

Rating: 4.5/5

Best for: Hot sleepers who also like to have a bit of fun with their bedding.

Not ideal for: People who prefer their bedding to be super soft.

Price at review: $474

Bottom line: Piglet in Bed’s bedding is whimsy at its finest—and the quality lives up to the hype. It adds so much warmth and character to my space, and every night I genuinely look forward to crawling under the covers.

Purchasing Process

Piglet in Bed offers a wide range of patterns and colors in its signature 100 percent linen, linen blend, and cotton fabrics. I’ve heard countless friends sing the praises of linen bedding, and while I’d previously only slept on cotton, I decided it was finally time to give it a try—especially heading into spring and summer when I gravitate towards lighter fabrics. Piglet in Bed’s linen blend is made from 55 percent European linen and 45 percent long staple cotton, making it an ideal middle ground for anyone hesitant to commit to 100 percent linen.

While the brand offers a variety of ready-made sheet sets, it also allows shoppers to mix and match pieces to create a fully customized bedding setup. In the name of maximizing my bed’s whimsy, I opted to mix and match color and pattern combinations. As a visual person, I especially appreciated that the product imagery updated with each selection, making it easy to envision exactly how the finished bedding combination would look in real life.

Delivery and First Impressions

Piglet in Bed clearly pays attention to every detail, which was evident the moment my package arrived. The order came in an adorable blue-and-white striped box, with each bedding piece wrapped in ribbon. House Beautiful tester Abby Werner-Woodward also ordered a duvet insert, which arrived in its own reusable bag—a thoughtful touch that makes storage much easier. The package even included a welcome note with easy-to-follow care instructions for the bedding.

After washing the bedding, any wrinkles and creases from transit softened. While Piglet in Bed notes that the bedding can be ironed, I didn’t find it necessary. And despite the internet’s ongoing insistence that putting on a duvet cover is an impossible task, this one makes the process incredibly easy. Interior corner ties help secure the insert in place, while the bottom button closures are sturdy, substantial, and easy to fasten.

Piglet in Bed Bedding Review

If you couldn’t already tell, I’m fully obsessed with how this bedding looks in my home—it has completely elevated the entire feel of my apartment. The gingham strikes the perfect balance between whimsical and classic without veering into anything overly childish. Werner-Woodward agreed, noting that “the gingham has a youthful feel to it, but the quality and look of the bedding make it feel upscale.” The colors are cheerful and bright, yet muted enough to still feel polished and grown-up.

After sleeping on this bedding for more than two months, I can confidently say I don’t see myself going back to traditional cotton sheets anytime soon. I initially worried that linen might feel too coarse or scratchy for my liking, but the linen blend turned out to be the ideal balance of softness and subtle texture. Werner-Woodward also found the bedding surprisingly soft, though she noted that it “can wrinkle if you don’t smooth it out, which can make your space look a bit frumpy.”

As someone who tends to sleep hot, I especially appreciated how breathable and cooling the linen felt throughout the night. The fabric has that airy, lightweight quality linen is known for, helping the bed stay comfortable without ever feeling stuffy.

My only minor complaint is that the bedding tends to loosen and stretch slightly between washes—particularly the gingham pieces as opposed to the solid shades. This can lead to some extra bunching and wrinkling, which isn’t my favorite aesthetically. As laundry day approaches, I often find myself readjusting everything to keep it looking neat. That said, the bedding returns to its original shape after washing, so it’s far from a dealbreaker in my opinion.

Cleaning Instructions

Linen is notoriously high-maintenance, so I initially expected the care instructions to be a bit fussy—but thankfully that wasn’t the case. The brand recommends washing the bedding on a gentle warm cycle and either line-drying or tumble-drying on low heat. Given the limited space in my NYC apartment, I opt for tumble drying, which so far hasn’t impacted the quality of the bedding.
