The Original Gilmore Girls House Just Hit the Market—Here's What It Looks Like Now

Pack your bags, we’re headed to Stars Hollow—well, almost. The original house that played Lorelai and Rory Gilmore's Connecticut home on the hit 2000s show Gilmore Girls has hit the market in Ontario, Canada, with a price tag of $3.88 million CAD (about $2.7 million USD).

Located in Markham’s Unionville neighborhood, the house, represented by Sylvia Morris, made just one on-screen appearance for the series’s seven-season run, serving as a filming location for the pilot episode. The house was originally built in 1875 and now has three bedrooms and four baths. The recent listing marks the first time the property has hit the market in nearly 25 years, and interestingly, in its entire 150-year history, just five families have called the residence home.

After filming the pilot episode, Warner Bros. moved the production to a stage set in Burbank, California, but Unionville certainly made its mark on the series. The home isn’t the only place in town with ties to the show.

The cast and crew visited several spots along the quaint main street stretch to film the pilot, including an original hardware store for the exterior of Luke's small-town diner, the town gazebo, and the Old Firehall Confectionery, which served as the site for Taylor’s infamous soda shoppe. If you look carefully, you can even see the original “Unionville Planning Mill” plaque obscured by leaves in a shot of Stars Hollow’s welcome sign. If you’re a Gilmore Girls superfan, a self-guided tour listing all of the most iconic and obscure filming sites is a hallmark of Unionville’s local tourism.

The Gothic Revival–style property once featured dusty blue siding, decorative gingerbread trim, and a wraparound porch where we watched the famous mother-daughter duo paint their nails, contemplate life, and take Cosmo quizzes. The porch remains, but the classic facade is now a bold turquoise and the lace-like trim has been replaced by bold white beams. Inside, the home’s original stained glass paints the walls with color and manicured pine floors run throughout.
